Splashmins Resort

A Rising Paradise in Sun-Kissed Guyana.

If you’re traveling from Georgetown toward the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, as if on your way out of the country, I urge you—no, I implore you—to make a small but rewarding detour.

Take the left turn onto the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, named in honor of Guyana’s second president, Linden Sampson Forbes Burnham. In mere minutes, you’ll arrive at a place that has long been a cherished retreat but is now undergoing a transformation unlike anything before—Splashmins Resort. This beloved getaway, originally brought to life by the visionary and tireless Lennox John, is evolving, and what an evolution it is.

Gone is the old Splashmins, where families would gather after a long workweek, lounging under cabanas, sipping drinks, and watching their children frolic in the cool, dark waters of the lake. In its place, something grander, something more ambitious is taking shape.

Now, as you approach, your eyes will catch sight of pristine white bridges arcing over winding waterways, dividing the landscape into distinct, picturesque subsections. Soon, luxurious homes will rise along the gleaming white sandy beaches, standing proudly just feet from the water’s edge. This is no ordinary vacation spot—this is the making of an elite retreat, a premier playground for those who have arrived, for those who recognize the beauty of Guyana’s natural gifts and the promise of its future.

I stand here, elevated as if on a hilltop, watching it all unfold—the workers, tireless as ants in a thriving colony, transforming a once-swampy, forested expanse into a world-class destination. Where there were once only loamy tracks, now palm-lined roads carve through the landscape, mapping out what will soon be bustling mini-communities. Rising steadily, as if summoned from dreams into reality, are new hotels, a state-of-the-art conference center, and opulent homes, each one emerging from the sand like a phoenix reborn, radiant and unstoppable.

And then there is the water—the heart of this paradise. Boats glide effortlessly, kayaks slice through the surface, and jet skis dance in exhilarating loops, kicking up waves in joyous defiance of stillness. It is a spectacle, a doorway into a new kind of Eden, where nature and human ingenuity embrace in perfect harmony.

For this vision, for this transformation, I must tip my hat—no, I must raise a glass—to the enigmatic, indomitable Lennox John. A man of foresight, of relentless drive, of a dream so grand that it is reshaping the very landscape of Guyana.

Lennox, you are uniquely blessed. And for that, we thank you.
