Just Thoughts

Hi
In this our first newsletter we are pleased to welcome you, all Guyanese and friends of Guyana. We recognize we are in our infancy even as the country itself can be labeled as such.
Going forward we hope to delve into and explore ongoings and ideas that would be of interest to you all.
We hope to build an enjoyable relationship with you and towards that end we are excited to introduce to you one of Guyana’s interesting authors, Frederick Cranmore. He brings you Brother Mine
— Team Just Thoughts.

Brother Mine

Guyana,
What does she know
And feel?
Having twisted free to stand alone,
A quilted people stitched in dreams.
We did not chose this place to be, nor
Did we chose the name we’re called…
But chose we can to smile, accepting
Thankfully what life can freely share.
Remember, great nations came
And each in turn reluctant left!
The Spanish, Dutch, the English left.
We are the children of this place of dreams.
We are the benefactors of their hope.
So let’s not like children squabble too
And toss our marbles in despair.
Let history unfurl itself on pages old and new
And show what greed and glutton often bring…
Sickness, hunger, fear and loss.
This paradise…is not
Abundant wealth beyond our means to spend.
Can happiness hide behind great bars of steel?
What good can great fortunes be
For sickness unto death?
Undiminished, love constantly fulfills itself.
Hate cripples, blinds and as in a mirror
it is a rabid madman, it froths
And laughs into the faces that it sees.
Come, let me put my arm about you, I mean no harm.
The sins of my father I let slip from my
shoulders.
I have only me to share my friend,
With Love.
